Key Information Sessions (KIS)
This short course aims to develop knowledge and skills so attendees can understand and more effectively manage drug and alcohol related problems.
Learning will be dynamic, interactive, and delegates will:
- Have knowledge on the different drugs, their effects and the current trends
- Understand the theory and practice of alcohol and drug use prevention and education
- Understand the changes in the brain and the continuum of use
- Understand the continuum of helping
- Know how the substance use affects the individual, their family and the community
- Understand the link between HIV/AIDS and other communicable diseases
- Understand seamless services; the tiered/stepped system of care
- Knowledge of referral sources
- Be able to identify community partners and structures
